Replacing Fuel Lines: Toro S200 Step-By-Step Guide

The Toro S200 is a snowblower with a Tecumseh AH520 engine. If your S200 is experiencing issues with fuel flow to the carburetor, it may be time to replace the fuel line. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of replacing the fuel line on your Toro S200, ensuring a smooth and efficient performance for years to come.

Drain the fuel tank and disconnect the spark plug wire

To drain the fuel tank of your Toro S200, first, ensure the snowblower is turned off and cooled down. Then, remove the gas cap and locate the fuel supply line. Place a suitable container underneath the tank to catch the fuel. Next, use a siphon pump to extract the fuel from the snowblower.

Once the tank is empty, you can turn your attention to the spark plug wire. Before you begin, consult your owner's manual for specific instructions and safety information.

Now, disconnect the spark plug wire and clean the area around the spark plug, removing any dirt or debris. Examine the spark plug for signs of degradation, damage, or accumulated deposits. If you notice any issues, replace the spark plug.

To install a new spark plug, first, hand-screw it in. It should be finger-tight after four or five turns. Step 3: Remove the muffler shroud mounting screws

Again, use the appropriate tool to remove these screws.

Step 4: Work the engine shroud off the carburetor mounting studs

Leave the primer hose and breather hose connected as you work the engine shroud off.

Remove the fuel line

To remove the fuel line from your Toro S200, you will need a few tools, including a Phillips screwdriver and a socket and ratchet set.

First, ensure you are working in a well-ventilated area and disconnect the spark plug wire. Pull the wire up and off the plug. Next, remove the electric starter switch by unscrewing the mounting screws and pulling the switch off the bracket. Allow the switch to hang by the electrical cord.

Now, it's time to remove the engine shroud. Pull off the choke and throttle knobs, and then remove the acorn nuts securing the carburetor to the engine. Take off the muffler shroud mounting screws. Work the engine shroud off the carburetor mounting studs, being careful to leave the primer hose and breather hose connected.

Finally, you can remove the fuel line. Release the fuel line clamp and pull the fuel line off the fuel filter. Repeat this process on the other end of the fuel line to detach it from the carburetor.

Your fuel line has now been successfully removed, and you can install the new one.

Install the new fuel line

To install the new fuel line, first, connect the new fuel line to the tank and secure it with the fuel line clamp. Then, connect the other end of the new fuel line to the carburetor and secure it with the clamp.

Now, pull off the muffler shroud before reinstalling the engine shroud. To do this, remove the belt cover mounting bolts and pull off the belt cover. Then, remove the bolts from the red chute support bracket and pull the support bracket forward, releasing the control rod from the 4-way control rod receiver. Next, remove the front muffler shroud mounting bolts. Release the wire control cables from the retainer clip and pull off the muffler shroud.

Now, align the choke knob shaft and the 2 carburetor mounting posts with the openings on the engine shroud and work the engine shroud onto the engine. Make sure that the breather hose passes through the opening and lines up with the rocker cover breather hose fitting. Slide the breather hose over the rocker cover fitting and secure the hose with the clamp.

Reinstall the 2 acorn nuts to secure the engine shroud to the engine. Slide the wire control cables into the retainer clip and position the muffler shroud on the engine. Reinstall the muffler shroud mounting bolts.

Push the control rod back into the 4-way control rod receiver and line up the support bracket with the mounting holes. Reinstall the bolts in the red chute support bracket. Reinstall the belt cover using the mounting bolts. Reinstall the choke and throttle knobs.
