You may also decide to run some fuel injector cleaner through your system at this point, although this is not essential.

Starting the truck

Now that you've disconnected the fuel lines, put on the new filter, and reconnected the fuel lines, you're almost ready to start your truck.

First, plug the fuel pump fuse back in. Then, get into the truck and turn the key to the "RUN" position, but don't start the engine. Let it sit for around five seconds, then crank the engine. It may take a few seconds to start because of the air in the system being pushed out.

If you want, you can now run some fuel injector cleaner through your system, but it's not necessary.
