Hose and fitting instructions
The RCI 2162A is a 15-gallon aluminium fuel cell with a length of 30.00", a width of 12.00", and a height of 9.00". It is manufactured from 0.100" thick aluminium and features a 12-bolt heavy-duty remote fill neck for use with a standard 1 3/4" hose.
To install the RCI 2162A fuel cell, follow these hose and fitting instructions:
First, drain and remove your existing fuel tank. Clean the inside of your new fuel cell thoroughly. Install the Genright ring onto the top of the fuel cell, welding it in place to eliminate the need for a gasket and reduce potential leaks. Position the ring as close to the centre of the tank as possible. If the ring does not remove the pre-attached fitting, you will need an additional FBM3741 to cap it off.
Next, install the fuel pump onto the Genright ring with the new gasket, ensuring the arrow on top of the pump assembly is pointing towards the front of the Jeep. Use sealant from the lube and sealant kit to install the FBM3741 = -8 AN Flare Cap onto the fitting in the fuel cell with the attached tube. Then, loosely install the FBM4033 = -8 90 Swivel hose end onto the other fitting on the top of the cell.
Cut the -8 SS braided hose to the required length to connect to the 90 fitting in the top of the fuel cell. Assemble the hose and fitting according to Aeroquip instructions. Now, assemble the fuel supply fittings:
- RUS-640850 = EFI to 6 AN fitting to an FBM1012 = 6 AN Hose end straight
- RUS-640860 = Fuel Rail to 6 AN fitting to the other FBM1012 = 6 AN Hose end straight
Connect the smaller fitting to the fuel pump and the larger fitting to the fuel line under the Jeep. Route your -6 SS hose under the Jeep, using a hole on the driver's side of the cell. Cut the -6 SS braided hose to the required length to connect to the fittings and assemble according to Aeroquip instructions.
Finally, extend the wiring as needed.

Extending wiring
When extending the wiring for the RCI 2162A fuel pump, it is important to follow the correct procedures to ensure a safe and effective installation. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:
Firstly, you will need to gather the necessary parts and tools. This includes the RCI 2162A fuel cell, a Genright pump ring with a new gasket, fuel-resistant rubber hose, hose clamps, and the appropriate fittings and connectors. You can refer to the list of parts provided by other RCI 2162A users for guidance on what specific parts you may need.
Next, remove the fuel pump from your old tank carefully, as it will still be full of fuel. Clean the inside of your new RCI 2162A fuel cell thoroughly before installing the fuel pump onto the Genright ring with the new gasket. Ensure that the arrow on top of the pump assembly is pointing towards the front of your Jeep.
Now, you can extend the wiring. Cut the SS braided hose to the required length to connect to the fitting in the top of the fuel cell. Assemble the hose and fitting according to the manufacturer's instructions. For example, Aeroquip provides instructions for assembling their SS braided hoses and fittings.
After assembling the hose and fitting, you can connect the smaller fitting to the fuel pump and the larger fitting to the fuel line under your Jeep. Route the SS hose under your vehicle, using a hole on the driver's side of the cell as an entry point. This hole can also be used to route the electrical wiring. Cut the SS braided hose to the appropriate length to connect to the fittings, and assemble them according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Finally, connect the grey evap valve back into the pump and secure it in the wheel well. With these steps completed, you should be able to start your Jeep without any issues.
It is important to note that this process may vary depending on your specific vehicle and setup. Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions and seek professional assistance if you are unsure about any part of the installation process.
